New Year's Day in Japan

shougatu1.jpg

In Japan many of us take a little long vacation from the end of December to the third or the forth of January. This year, many people take the vacation until 6th of January bacause it's sunday on the 6th.

Japanese events in special days like New Year's day are more or less related with Japanese original religion called Shinto. In the past time, we usually took 7 day rest after the new year breaks. Recently it's not always in one regular rule but it's true that New Year's day is the most important seasonal event in Japan. Of course it's more important than Xmas day.

As I wrote above, I will also take a little longer holidays from Today. Have a happy new year !!!!
