Today I'm back from short trip to Tokyo. Again I had various food there, but this time it was a little irregular occassion as I stayed in Ikebukuro area. I often go to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza and some places around these areas but it's my first visit to Ikebukuro after I came back to Japan 3 years ago.
My impression about Ikebukuro had been a litte dirty atmospher and a flood of people around the station area at the last time visit, but this time I was really surprised that Ikebukuro became beautiful and clean with a lot of new buildings and nice looking restauratns.
I had many choices for my meals in Ikebukuro. However, insterstingly, I happened to find a tiny fast food like ramen restaurant in the Ikebukuro station. Usually any kind of fast food stand were not fascinating becuase the most important thing for them is quick serve and quick out. Taste was not expected good there.
But the ramen shop in the station is pruduced by Ippudo, which is written in the signboard of the shop. So I got interested enough to check it out.
Result.....Taste is OK. Actually the Ippudo taste is still better, I think, but at least this ramen tastes fantastic as station fast foods go. I could find more numbers of ramen restaurats outside of the station, but I was not disappointed with this place.
I think I can use this ramen place when I'm really in a hurry.
Also I was impressed that fast food places in the station had been improved at this fantastic level. Japanese food culture never stops the evolution.
